About SmartChecker
SmartChecker is an independent Malaysian platform that assesses financial companies, publishes what the official registers say about them, and collects reviews from the people who use them.
What we do
We cover financial companies that serve people in Malaysia: Labuan-licensed banks and money brokers, and stockbrokers licensed by the Securities Commission Malaysia. For each company we publish what the official registers say, the date we checked, and a link to the source, so any fact on the page can be checked at its origin.
Alongside those facts we publish reviews written by SmartChecker members about their own experience, and our own assessment of the company, signed by the person who wrote it.
How we stay independent
SmartChecker is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for any company, regulator or government agency, including the Securities Commission Malaysia, Bank Negara Malaysia and Labuan FSA.
No company can pay to be added to the directory, to change a record, to change a rating, or to remove a review. Advertising is sold as a labelled banner and nothing else; it has no effect on any record, ranking or rating.
A company listed or reviewed here may buy a banner. Its banner never appears on its own record page or its own SC Visit page, and space cannot be bought for one named company’s page. How advertising works sets out every rule we hold ourselves to.
How we make money
We earn from advertising. Every advertisement is labelled with the name of the advertiser who paid for it, on every page that carries one. Advertisers get the banner they paid for. They do not get a position in the directory, a better rating, or any say over a review, a register fact or a word of our own writing.
What we do not do
We do not give investment, financial, tax or legal advice, and nothing we publish is a recommendation to buy, sell or use any product or service. Our ratings measure service quality as members describe it.
We do not describe a company as a scam or a fraud. Where a regulator has published a finding or an alert, we report the regulator's own words, with the date and a link.
