Privacy policy

SmartChecker collects the little it needs to run an account, publish a review and stop abuse. We do not sell personal data. Questions and requests go to support@smartchecker.my.

What we collect

  • Account: your username, your email address or the alias created for a username account, your phone number, and a password that is stored only as a hash.
  • Reviews and enquiries: what you write, your rating, and the date. Your username and review are public once published.
  • Advertising enquiries: the email address, phone number and message you send us through the enquiry form.
  • Technical: your IP address and request time, used to limit how often forms can be submitted and to keep the site available. Session cookies keep you logged in.

Why we use it

To create and secure your account, to publish your review with your username, to answer your enquiry, to prevent spam and abuse, and to meet our legal obligations. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.

Who processes it for us

  • Supabase — the database and sign-in service that stores accounts and reviews.
  • Cloudflare — serves the website and runs the request checks in front of it.
  • Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google, in which case Google tells us the account identifier and the email address on it.

These providers process data on our instructions. Data may be stored on servers outside Malaysia; we use providers that commit to protecting it to the standard the PDPA requires.

How long we keep it

Account data stays while your account exists. A published review stays while it is published: reviews are part of a public record other readers rely on. Enquiry records are kept for up to 24 months. Rate-limit records are deleted within two days.

Your rights

Under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 you may ask for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct it, ask us to limit how it is used, or withdraw consent. Write to support@smartchecker.my from the address on the account. We answer within 21 days. If you delete your account, tell us whether you want your published reviews anonymised or withdrawn.

Children

SmartChecker is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We update this page when our practice changes and show the date at the bottom. Material changes are announced on the site.
