I’ve been looking into TA Securities, one of Malaysia’s long-established stockbroking firms.
What stands out about TA Securities is its long operating history. Established in 1973, TA Securities Holdings Berhad has been operating in Malaysia’s capital market for more than five decades. It is a stockbroking company licensed by the Securities Commission Malaysia under the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007 and is also a Participating Organisation of Bursa Malaysia.

TA Securities offers a relatively broad range of services, including conventional stockbroking, Islamic broking, share margin financing, foreign market access, corporate finance, investment research and nominee services. Its research division also provides coverage of Malaysian listed companies together with sector and market analysis.
However, investors should also consider TA Securities’ regulatory history.
In 2013, the Securities Commission Malaysia took administrative action against TA Securities Holdings Berhad for breaches relating to anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing requirements. The SC cited weaknesses involving suspicious transaction monitoring and reporting, employee training, independent compliance audits, customer due diligence and know-your-client procedures. TA Securities was fined RM150,000.
There have also been disciplinary cases involving individuals associated with TA Securities. In 2020, Bursa Malaysia took action against a proprietary day trader who was, at the time of the misconduct, employed by TA Securities. The case involved breaches of Bursa rules relating to trading conduct and activities that could lead to false or manipulative trading. Importantly, the disciplinary action was against the individual, rather than a finding that TA Securities itself had engaged in market manipulation.
Another issue investors should be aware of is impersonation and investment scams. TA Securities has issued warnings about third parties using its company name, branding, fake websites, applications and documents to promote fraudulent investment schemes. In May 2026, the company specifically warned about a scam using its name, letterhead, branding, fake website and app.
Overall, TA Securities has a long-established presence, a Malaysian regulatory framework, access to Bursa Malaysia and a broad range of capital-market services. At the same time, its history includes a company-level AML/CFT regulatory penalty and separate disciplinary cases involving individuals associated with the firm.
A regulated and established broker can still have compliance issues in its history. Likewise, the existence of impersonation scams does not mean that the legitimate broker is responsible for those scams.
